Located in Malabar, Florida, Lucky Acres developed in the 1970's for the breeding and raising of fine quality SHETLAND SHEEPDOGS. Joanne has been an active member of the American Shetland Sheepdog Association and the Mid-Florida Shetland Sheepdog Club for many years. She has competed with her dogs at AKC shows in both Obedience and Conformation events. Her dogs have earned many titles over the years - the most recent being the Championship of CH Lucky Acres Dapper Dan . One significant highlight of her career was at the 1981, ASSA National Specialty where she handled her Lucky Acres Miss Chief to High in Trial. Joanne has retired from active Obedience competition but is called upon occasionally by clubs to judge Obedience or Confirmation at their matches. She is still very much involved in breeding Shelties and in their showing in Confirmation at AKC shows. Among her many accomplishments here was the success a few years ago of BEST IN SHOW winner CH Linden Lucky Acres Gold Gem. As if this were not enough, several years ago she and Dick added Schipperkes to their fold. Beginning with CH Sheradin Back in the Hi-Life, they have bred and shown many fine Schipperkes and several Champions. They are members of the Schipperke Club of America and were instrumental in the founding of the Schipperke Club of Central Florida, which hosted the 2002 National Specialty show with Joanne as Assistant Show Chairman.
Joanne's first love now is sheepherding. She started with the Shelties and, while continuing to work with them (Boss and Danielle especially) she is also experiencing a great deal of success with her Border Collie "TY" and will be active at many herding and stock dog trials this year. She has recently acquired Flash (See below)
Flash is our newest addition. She is the offspring of Ty's littermate Ruby
Joanne is very active in Herding trials with her Border Collies. TY recently finished the requirements for her AKC Championship and is now HTCH. Flash, a "get" from Ty's littermate Ruby, is progressing nicely with her training and has done well at several trials.
